What I've learned so far:
1. You can never purchase any tickets too early... (TGV, shows, Oyster card, exhibitions...)
2. If you're an avid follower of fashion blogs, you think you won't need to read any of them anymore, because since your arrival here, in the city of Mother of fashion weeks, 4/5 of the population is disgustingly stylish and everyday "streetstyle" can be found anywhere.
3. Do not underestimate the safety of an "arrondissement", strange people are everywhere...
4. Stop thinking strikes won't affect you, they will! Prepare yourself losing twice as much time in public transport, pushing people in packed métros and getting off as heroes, ie. alive. Being happy that you've made it to the appointment with a 15-minute delay, you won't even give a thought about how to get back home, because that will be even trickier.
5. When you come across a cheap bar on St Germain, you'll think Great! It's almost as cheap as back home... You feel happy for your newly discovered pub/bar, you order tequilas that are cheap. You taste them. You swallow the beverage and finally understand why they were so cheap. But at the moment you don't really care. But you will in a 12-hour interval when you'll wake in your bed with a terrible headache at 1 in the afternoon.
6. Be patient while doing anything: queuing in the supermarché, calling your phone operator, waiting for a reply from the prefecture.
That's it for now...
